The 6th January Dia de los Reyes-Three Holy Kings Day
One of the biggest canivals is held on the 6th January with the celibration of the Three Holy kings it is celibrated all over the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura marks the eve of Epiphany by a street  canival and a parade with brightly coloured  floats clowns entertainers  music and dancers.
During the parade the  Three wise Kings hand out christmas gifts to all the children of the towns.
The children write letters to their favorate king or magi asking for which gift they would like to recieve and on this day, Juring the precession sweets and treats are thrown into the crowds and the children scamble to get to them we visited this Carnival in 2005 and again this year in 2007.
The kings arive at the harbour in corralejo by boat in the early morning and then travel round the island by camel to each of the towns and then return to corralejo in the evening where the final parade takes place and the real canival starts a party is held in the squarestarting about 8pm with entertainers and musicians, the shops stay open till very late on this evening catching all the late night tourists.
After the parade the procession of the kings carrys on to the harbour to depart, the festivities last all day and well into the night.
Again during Febuary and March it is Canival time the most popular time of the year in the Canary Islands one of the high lights is the electing of the Carnival Queen in a grand gala that is deemed one of the high points of the carnival as well as the inhabitants of the Island thousands of tourists are attracted to the colours and all the fun of the canival, after the parade the party begins with music and dancing and a funfare for the children which normaly starts around 7pm, the party starts to realy get going around midnight and lasts well into the early hours finishing around 6-8am.
During April or march you will find the easter parade which happens during Holy week this parade is a solmn  occasion where sacred icons and religious statues are carried through the streets of many villages and towns around the island
You will find there are many more festivals through out  the year and if you are lucky enough to be there at the right time you will be in for a treat ,watch or participate but most of all enjoy.
