The bio climate around the Canary islands and Africa showing the volcanic action,and the non active volcanoes,and the under sea ridges, the red line at the top of the picture is the tectonic plate border and the blue peaks on the canary's are non active volcanoes, the under water ridges are where the sea bed has raised due to volcanic action in the past there are no active volcanoes in the area now although at the top of Africa it is an earthquake zone with the last one I know of on October 10th 1980.
